Again
She comes again,
an unannounced guest,
but she's not like the rest.
Her claws bring pain,
confusion, they cage me,
closing around me like an Iron Maiden.
My hands tremble, my eyes sting.
I stare off, trying to think,
searching for a solution
I breathe in fours,
but the calm is an illusion
She comes back, this time with
a bucket of ice-cold water
I'm tied to a chair,
and when it hits me,
peace has become a thing of the past.
I shiver and cry out
There is nothing out there in the dark,
only the mocking sound of
wooshing wind.
I fall down, chair and all,
waiting it out, breathing in fours
Perhaps this time it works.
Eventually, inhale, exhale,
steady state.
She's gone.
There's no one left.
I get up again
